Hiking highlights around Weerberg
One of the region’s most popular day walks leads from the starting point at Innerst near Weerberg through shady woodland paths up to the idyllic Nafingalm at around 1,800 metres above sea level. Along the way, the paths open out onto sunny alpine meadows, and you can take a leisurely break by the turquoise-blue Nafingsee, with a magnificent view of the Karwendel mountains. The route is classified as a moderate alpine hike and is ideal for active holidaymakers who want to enjoy nature and the views.
For those who prefer a more leisurely pace, the “Tyrolean Village Idyll” is a perfect hike starting directly from Weerberg. Covering a distance of around 4 km with an elevation gain of approximately 150 metres, the trail leads past traditional huts and green meadows, offering fantastic views over the Inn Valley. A truly lovely introduction to Tyrolean nature for families and leisurely hikers.
A special destination for hikers is the Kellerjoch, which can be reached directly from Weerberg. The route leads through green alpine meadows and shady forest paths up to the Kellerjoch Chapel, which creates a peaceful, almost meditative atmosphere at the summit.
Here, you can look forward to varied tours with stunning views over the Inn Valley and the surrounding mountains. Eone of Europe’s most popular mountain bike routes, the Transalp, passes right by the hotel, and motorcyclists are in for a treat too. After all, there are plenty of fantastic roads to take you into the mountains.

A special destination in the region is the Wolfsklamm gorge near Stans, an impressive water gorge in the Karwendel mountains, which is ideal for a half-day family outing or a day trip. The narrow wooden walkways, bridges and steps lead through a wild, green gorge with roaring water and magnificent viewpoints.
The hike can be combined directly with a visit to the magnificent Tratzberg Castle. The 13th-century Renaissance castle is considered one of the most beautiful castles in Tyrol and is open for guided tours between spring and autumn. A rewarding contrast of nature and history.
Just a short drive from Weerberg lies the Schwaz Silver Mine in the nearby town of Schwaz. Here, you can take a mine train 800 metres underground and follow in the footsteps of the medieval miners who helped Tyrol rise to prominence in the 15th and 16th centuries. Guided tours last around 90 minutes and are just as suitable for families as they are for those interested in history and technology.
The Achenseebahn offers a completely different, nostalgic experience: Europe’s oldest exclusively steam-powered rack railway runs from Jenbach to Lake Achensee, combining historic engineering with magnificent panoramic views over forests, meadows and mountains. A wonderful day trip to Tyrol’s largest lake.
